Maybelline Color Sensational Lip Gloss Cranberry Cocktail Review

Article by MakeupLover

Hi everybody,
Today I’m going to review the Maybelline Color Sensational lip gloss in the shade Cranberry Cocktail.

What the website says:

Sophisticated color and shine. Lips feel luxuriously soft and supple with nourishing honey nectar. Expert Tip - Use the wand to apply lip gloss starting in the center of your upper lip. Work from the center to outer edges of your lips, following the contour of your mouth. Follow the same technique for your bottom lip.

It is priced at INR 260 (used to be INR 250 until some time back, I think) and we get 6.8 ml of the product.

The packaging is sleek and easy to use – a rectangular long tube with a silver lid and a transparent body through which you can see the gloss. It comes with a doe foot applicator that does its job well. The lid closes with a satisfying click which I like very much. One downside of the packaging is that the name of the shade is mentioned at the bottom of the tube in miniscule lettering. The plastic seal in which it comes does carry the name of the shade, but it is removed anyway. I feel it would have been nice if they had mentioned the name somewhere else along the body of the tube.

Coming to the shade, Cranberry Cocktail is a beautiful red. It has tiny silver shimmer, which can’t be seen except in flash photography or if you look very closely at the gloss. The shimmer is hardly noticeable on the lips and does not feel gritty at all. I feel this shade of red would suit all skin tones. It would be really good for those who haven’t worn red lips before, like me! This is not a shade I would have picked out for myself, but I got it as a gift and I love it so much.

The gloss is highly pigmented and can even be built up to look opaque. It is so pigmented that even when worn sheerly, it gives a good tint and shine. When worn to full intensity, it is very glossy and covers up all lip pigmentation.

It is quite moisturising as well. The best thing I like about it is that it is completely non-sticky! It feels light and comfortable on the lips. It stays on for around 2 hours and then fades away, but leaves a slight pinkish-reddish tint (maybe because it is a pigmented bright shade). It transfers very obviously to cups etc. I wouldn’t count the staying power as a con because all lip glosses tend to wear off in a couple of hours.

Pros-
  • Great shade, will suit all skin tones, good for beginners to red lips
  • Good price
  • Well pigmented
  • Moisturising to an extent
  • Does not feel sticky at all
Cons-
  •     Nothing really!
My Rating:

I would rate this 5 on 5 and I’m looking forward to getting it in more shades like Hooked on Pink and Touch of Toffee. I definitely recommend these glosses to all of you.
